For EU Citizens: 
  • Applications for registration at primary school level are received directly at the Primary school of the town of residence.
  • Applications for registration at secondary school level are received at the Head of College Network according to your locality of residence. This office will then direct you to the Middle School or Senior School of the College.   

For Non-EU Citizens: 
  • Applications for registrations for compulsory education are received at the Ministry for Education and Employment (MEDE), Great Siege Road, Floriana.
  • It is recommended that applicants phone for an appointment with the officer in charge of registration.  You will need to arrange an appointment by phoning:

  • or go personally to the MEDE to ask for an appointment with the personnel responsible for registration. 

The following documentation is to be attached to the Pre-Registration Application.  
  • Original and photocopy of learner’s birth certificate. 
  • Original and photocopy of translation of the birth certificate, if it is not in English.  
  • Original and photocopy of ID Card / Blue paper and passports of learner and parents. 
  • Original and photocopy of lease agreement / house contract. 
  • Original and photocopy of marriage certificate. (If applicable) 
  • Original and photocopy of a legal document indicating who has the care and custody of the learner, if the learner is not accompanied by both parents.  
  • Original and photocopy of vaccination record with English translation 
  • Any other documentation (please specify) 

Registration cannot proceed unless all the documentation required is present.  
Parents / guardians are to bring also any other documents they deem necessary. 
In principle, both parents are to be present for their appointment at the Customer Care Section so that original documentation can be verified.  ​

Other useful information for registration

The school will ask if you have any records of past schooling of your child.

It is advisable to inform the school of any medical issues that the child may have. Any provision and administration of medical needs to be discussed with the school administration. In case of an emergency, first aiders/ paramedics are empowered to act in the best interest of the chid.  


EU, EEA AND Swiss nationals are entitled to free compulsory education in Maltese state schools.

Third Country (Non-EU) nationals in possession of a residence permit issued in Malta may access compulsory, further and higher education in Maltese state institutions and apply for an exemption form fees at the Exemption Office, MEDE, Floriana.
