Registering a Child in a state school in Malta

For EU Citizens
Applications for registration at primary level are received directly at the Primary School of the residential area.
Applications for registration at secondary school level are received by the Head of College according to your locality. The office will then direct you to the appropriate Middle or Senior School of the College.
For Non-EU Citizens

Pre-registration applications for compulsory education are received at the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Great Siege Road, Floriana.
Applicants are expected to submit the online application together with supporting documentation by email to the following address:

Documents required for Pre-Registration Purposes

Birth certificate with English translation

Identity Malta Certification (Residence Card/ID Card/Blue Paper/IPA document)

Residential property agreement

Marriage certificate*

Care and custody document (if applicable)

Vaccination record with English translation*

Other useful information for registration

Educational records may be submitted to the school.

It is advisable to inform educational institutions of any medical issues pertaining to the learner.  Any provision and administration of medical needs are to be discussed with the school administration.  First aiders/ paramedics are authorised to act in the interest of the learner in case of an emergency.
