12 - Do I need to pay for my child's education?

​​EU citizens, citizens from EEA countries and citizens from Switzerland are automatically entitled to free education for their children in Maltese State Schools up to compulsory schooling age (16).

Non-EU citizens in possession of a single work permit issued in Malta are entitled to free education for their children in Maltese State Schools up to the age of 16.

One can apply for exemption from payment of fees, the decision being taken upon the residential status of the applicant.
